Hotels in Rethymnon Town That You Will Love!

Rethymno is a popular town in Crete, the capital city of the region of Rethymnon. It’s roughly in the middle of the island, making visiting other areas easier while driving less. From Rethymno, it’s easy to reach any region on the island. But Rethymno offers more than just a comfortable location. The old town is a gorgeous place to stay, with a wide beach nearby and much to see and do. This guide features the best hotels in Rethymno town, including budget, mid-range, and luxury accommodations in different parts of town.

The choice of hotels, all-inclusive resorts, villas, and other places to stay in Rethymno is quite impressive. Being such a popular destination, you will find the right place to stay if you book early, no matter the budget.

From exclusive boutique hotels in the historic old town, hosted in spectacular Venetian buildings, to extremely convenient apartments to rent and budget family hotels. There are also unique seaside resorts with a private beach, quite close to the city center, and fantastic villas with an outdoor pool on the southern coast. Booking well in advance or away from the city center will reveal very convenient deals and much cheaper fees.

Budget Hotels in Rethymnon Town

A restricted budget does not mean you cannot find a great place to stay. It’s possible to find great places to stay in Rethymnon (as in any other town in Crete), even within a very limited budget. Rethymnon Old Town and its modern city feature fantastic hotels at convenient fees. These are some of the best budget-friendly places to stay in Rethymnon within a budget limit of โ‚ฌ70-โ‚ฌ90 per day.

Faros Rooms & Suites

🗝️ 🗝️ 🗝️
Located at the Venetian Port, the place features panoramic views overlooking the Lighthouse and the city beach. Although the area could be a bit noisy at night, nothing beats the comfort of dozens of bars and restaurants just meters from where you’re staying.

Rooms with private balconies over the port cost a bit more but are worth it. The hotel is close to Rethymnon’s Loggia, the shopping streets, and some of the best museums.

🤓 If you are on a tight budget, check the rooms without a view.

Archipelagos Hotel

⭐ ⭐ ⭐
This is one of my favorite places to stay in the modern part of town, and certainly not the first time I recommend it.

It’s just a few steps from the Fortezza and the Old Town, close to the public bus station, and steps from the most remarkable restaurants in Rethymnon. There are several swimming pools and a pool bar serving great coffee and cakes. The staff has always been extremely helpful and welcoming, accommodating every need.

I’ve also spent a weekend at this city hotel in Rethymnon. And I must say that the location is very convenient if you’re not renting a car: It’s two steps from the old town and a short taxi ride from the public bus station.

The rooms are big and comfortable, featuring amenities such as a coffee and tea maker, flat TV, and air conditioning.

May Beach Hotel

⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐
Although it’s about 4 km from the city center, the place is great if you rent a car (finding where to park will be fine!). The hotel is a few meters from the sea, offering views over Crete’s north coast.

The swimming pool environment is stunningly beautiful, with a garden and palm trees. The rooms close to the pool can be a bit noisy but are still the favorite of many guests.

Boutique Hotels in Rethymnon Old Town

Rethymnon Old Town has truly amazing boutique hotels with exclusive features, unique charm, and elegant facilities.

These hotels are generally set in ancient Venetian houses that have been restored, respecting the original style. Yet, they offer every thinkable comfort you need for a five-star experience.

Stays often start at โ‚ฌ200 per night. However, finding availability is not easy because boutique hotels are very requested. So, if you have already decided, book as soon as you find the room of your dreams.

Palazzino di Corina

⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐
Set in an ancient building in the center of the old town, the place has been renewed without changing the character and traditional features of the original house. The wooden ceilings and limestone walls add a romantic touch to the atmosphere of the boutique hotel.

Some rooms have a jacuzzi and there’s also a gorgeous swimming pool on the patio.

🤓 Guests love the comfortable beds, the bathroom facilities, and the parking space nearby.

Pepi Boutique Hotel (Adults Only)

🗝️ 🗝️ 🗝️ 🗝️
Pepi Boutique Hotel must be among the most beautiful hotels I’ve ever stayed at in Crete! It’s in the heart of the historic old town of Rethymnon, in a very quiet area. Silence and relaxation are two words that could best define a stay in this boutique hotel.

The garden with the pool is one of my favorite features: It’s an oasis in town where you can spend hours enjoying a drink and reading a book.

Their morning breakfast is stunning. It’s a few minutes from the city beach and close to shops, museums, bars, and restaurants. The building has an interesting story, it used to be one of the oldest public primary schools in Europe for boys and girls of the 20th century.
