Where to Eat in Agia Pelagia

From cozy tavernas to seaside restaurants, this brief but thorough guide features some of the best spots in Agia Pelagia. For those craving seafood delicacies, international cuisine, or authentic Greek fare, let me help you find the right spot to satisfy your appetite!

Alchemist

  • Location: Beachfront, Agia Pelagia.

This is one of the best-rated restaurants in Agia Pelagia (and certainly my favorite). It is right by the sea and serves Cretan food cooked in Anatolian style. You can check reviews on Tripadvisor here.

Besides incredibly tasty dishes, they also serve great cocktails, making it a great place to grab a bite and a drink after a long beach day and enjoy the last hours by the sea as the sun goes down.

Mezedofolia

  • Location: El. Venizelou Street, Agia Pelagia.

This is a highly-rated restaurant in the center of the village. It focuses mostly on Greek tapas or mezedes. A great plus is the unique art gallery curated by one of the owners, which adds a different twist to the experience.

Mezedofolia (roughly translated as crazy tapas) is perfect for an informal night out when you want to sample a variety of traditional, local bites and a refreshing beer or a glass of Cretan wine.

Bravo Seafood Restaurant

Located facing the beach on the main bay in Agia Pelagia, this is one of the restaurants with the best reviews in the area, specializing in fresh seafood.

Suggested dishes include fresh grilled octopus, fried calamari, and a wide variety of pizza and pasta. The place also offers great sea views. Great food and a friendly and welcoming staff will make you want to return. Some days of the week, they also feature Greek and Cretan nights with live dance and music.

O Nikolas

  • Location: El. Venizelou Street, Agia Pelagia.

This is a traditional taverna – a restaurant specializing in seafood, Mediterranean, and Greek dishes, but also serving vegetarian-friendly food, vegan and gluten-free options.

They are great at grilling fish, and their seafood platter steals the show! But if fish is not your thing, worry not; they also prepare typical Cretan dishes, including rabbit stew, Greek and Cretan salads, and more. The portions tend to be huge (to share), and prices are reasonable.

Mythos Taverna

  • Location: Beachfront, Agia Pelagia.

Another great seafood restaurant, Mythos, is located right by the sea. It is a deli, grill, and vegetarian-friendly fish place that serves Cretan dishes such as kleftiko (wrapped lamb in the oven), fresh salads, and other local specialties.

Known for its attentive service and friendly staff, this family-run taverna is where you’ll feel at home and well-taken care of!

Mouragio Restaurant

  • Location: Beachfront, Agia Pelagia.

Mouragio Restaurant’s menu features pizza, fresh fish, pasta, Greek dishes, and vegan and vegetarian-friendly options. You can also order light meals such as burgers, salads, and gyros.

The family-run place is small and welcoming, the food is very fresh, and prices are very reasonable.

The Home Agia Pelagia

  • Location: Beachfront, Agia Pelagia.

This quirky, colorful restaurant is not your usual Greek restaurant. It is a favorite on the main beach road in Agia Pelagia. Check the restaurant’s website for more details. The place is perfect for lunch and dinner but is also known for serving a fantastic breakfast. Their menu features Latin-style dishes and other classics such as sandwiches, fries, and hamburgers.

One of my favorite things is ordering a Mexican dish (for instance, chicken tacos or burritos) with a cold beer (my kids love their burgers!) after spending the day at the beach. It guarantees relaxation!

As you can see, Agia Pelagia offers a limited but varied culinary journey! Bookmark this guide to the top spots to eat in this charming village and have it with you during your time on the island. Undoubtedly, from seaside gems to cozy tavernas, Agia Pelagia’s restaurants always have something delicious on the menu!
