How to Get to Gavdos
Gavdos is part of the Chania region and is located on the island of Crete. It is less than 50 km from Chora Sfakion (West Crete).
The best places to stay in Gavdos are the capital, Kastri, or near the port of Karabe, where boats from Crete dock. Although many of the best beaches can only be reached on foot, renting a bike is not a bad idea. With Ierapetra, Gavdos has the highest number of sunny days per year in Europe and is the sunniest spot on the continent.
To travel to Gavdos, you must board a boat either at the port of Chora Sfakion or the villages of Paleochora and Sougia. Sometimes, it’s also possible to leave from the port of Agia Roumeli.
Never fail to check the departure schedules because they tend to change often. The best place where to check the schedules is the official site of the local ferry line ANENDYK. Most ferries depart from Chora Sfakion.
