Heraklion is the most dynamic region in Crete, encompassing the island’s bustling capital and the famous Knossos Palace, a must-see landmark for visitors.

The northern coast is teeming with hotels and resorts. However, venturing just a few kilometers inland reveals solitary villages such as Krasi or Zaros and the region’s vineyards in Peza, Archanes, and Dafni.

You can explore the southern coast, visit Matala or Agiofarago, and explore the Archaeological Site of Phaistos. A journey through the region’s stunning mountains and gorges makes these destinations worth the trip.
